Bug Triage - Update

Combs, Matthew Christopher
I wanted to give you all an update on my Bug Triage.  I'm working on developing a plan for attacking this project.  I am still getting familiar with the Gramps Bug Tracking System and had a few questions.

1.  If I update a Bug, who gets a notice that it was updated and how does that update occur?

2.  If I need more information or have a question about a bug and I add a comment, does it send out a notice or do I need to contact those involved with the bug directly?

3.  When I click on the username in the Status column of the Bug Tracking system, I get a new screen, but their email address is showing Access Denied.  How do I get their email to contact them directly?  Some of these bugs are fairly old, and I imagine some of the userids and email addresses are out of date.  Does this sound right?

Thanks,

Matt

Hello Matt

Mantis (software used for the bug tracker) mails the original reporter and
anyone who contributes in the Notes section. Additionally it is possible to
involve new people by sending a 'reminder'. The mail that is sent contains a
plain text representation of the bug as it appears in Mantis.

Just add your question to the notes then it gets mailed to all involved in the
ticket. A fresh mail is sent each time a comment is added.

You shouldn't need to know their email addresses as you communicate via the bug
tracker. For any old bugs which cannot be reproduced, I suggest that if you do
not receive answers to your questions after a reasonable amount of time then it
is OK to close the bug report, stating no further information available. The bug
report still remains in the tracker but is no longer active.

Bye

Gary

Bug status must be "Assigned" or "Feedback".
Status "New" will not sent a fresh mail.

That's logical, a developer or administrator needs to assign to himself or asking for a comment. Maybe only last bug reports should be "New" ?

Note, after the reporter's comment (Feedback), status will go back to "New" (or still assigned). So, if you ask for a comment (Feedback) and do not "monitor" after the first comment, you may forget the bug-report!
