Hi Erik

I assume you want to change columns that display in edit windows and
not the display views.

This requires a hack of the code files. So make sure that any file you
attempt to hack you maintain an original copy in case something goes
awry.

In the program folder, go to gramps\gui\editors\displaytabs

Using addrembedlist.py as an example, you will find a list of the
columns like...

    _column_names = [
        (_('Date'),         0, 150, MARKUP_COL, -1, None),
        (_('Street'),       1, 225, TEXT_COL, -1, None),
        (_('Locality'),     2, 100, TEXT_COL, -1, None),
        (_('City'),         3, 100, TEXT_COL, -1, None),
        (_('State/County'), 4, 100, TEXT_COL, -1, None),
        (_('Country'),      5,  75, TEXT_COL, -1, None),
        (_('Private'),      6,  30, ICON_COL, -1, 'gramps-lock')
        ]

In the list, editing 150 in the Date column will change the displayed
width.  You will find other files with ....embedlist. These are the
files you will want to look at.

Re: Column width.

Hi Dave,

It is particularly column widths of the Event Reference Editor window. I can widen the
columns manually so the entire text can be read, but they don't stick. Next time I
display the window the column widths are back to default size. I wish they would stay
the way I have manually set them.
