Familylines issue

Udo van den Heuvel
Hello,

I am using gramps-4.2.5-3.fc24.noarch on an X86_64 Fedroa 24 system.
Gramps has performed well until now:

I just entered another branch of relatives connecting a nephew to
Carolus Magnus and since that time empty PDFs are generated using the
Familylines report (tried with Graphviz and Ghostscript).
Previously the output would be two sheets of A0 in landscape but each
slightly wider at 1.60 meters for easy printing on an inkjet that has
paper on A0-wide (portrait) rolls.

When I try JPEG output format I get no resulting file.
Same for GIF, PNG, SVG and Postscript files.
A graphviz file is generated but in this format I am restricted to one
sheet.

It could be that this issue happens due to the size of the tree.
Or perhaps another reason?
How can I find out and fix this issue?
Please let me know!

Kind regards,
Udo

Re: Familylines issue

Udo van den Heuvel
Hello,

I have a solution:

By trying to render the gv file to ps and then to pdf I found that:

When a person has double quotes (") in their name suffix then
`dot -Tps2 file.gv -o file.ps` fails saying:

Error: file.gv: syntax error in line 700 near 'Oude'

When I change the double quotes (") for single quotes (') around the
name suffix the Familylines report works as previously seen.

Please find a way to escape these 'dangerous' characters in reports.

Kind regards,
Udo
