Another question related to the after effects of my recent Gramps crash.
As part of what I did, I had copied the database backup files to a new
directory, renamed the extension, and added a NEEDS_RECOVERY file per one
part of the wiki.
When I loaded that family tree, everything appeared to recover and load
from the renamed. People had all the correct events and citations and
whatnot populated, as did all other objects. However, the reverse did not
happen. The references tab of any object in the database was empty.
For example, I had a residence event for one person ("Eddie Hildreth") that
referenced a place called "Alaska". If I looked at Eddie Hildreth, the
list of events attached to him included the residence event. However, if I
looked at the residence event, the references tab did not include "Eddie
Hildreth". And the event object had Alaska attached. But if I looked at
the Alaska place object, the references tab did not include the residence
I can rebuild all those references by removing the connection
(person->event or event->place, event->citation, citation->source,
everything->media object, everything->note) by hand, saving the object,
re-opening the object, then attaching the "secondary" object again. But
that is VERY time-consuming. Is there another way to do this? I tried the
"rebuild secondary indices" tool, but that doesn't seem to do the trick.
