Huge issues

Stephanie LaRocque
I installed the cramps program played with it and determined it wasn't what I was looking for so I Uninstalled tithe correct way and it took all my documents off my computer with it so that now in having to try and recover it. I feel like your program is just a big virus and I'm so unhappy with this that i will be telling others I know NOT to install it.

Re: Huge issues

Dave Scheipers
Stephanie,

When you uploaded your genealogy database into Gramps, you must have used an export file created by your previous genealogy program. Gramps would have read that file as it imported your data. When Gramps was done with the import, that file with all your data would have been left on your computer. Unless you manually deleted this file, it will still be there.

The alternative is to reinstall the Gramps program to access the files it created to export out into a format that your previous program can import.  When you uninstalled Gramps, the program files were deleted. The Data files are not stored with the program files. Unless you manually deleted these folders, the information should still be there.

To help us help you, it would be helpful to know what operating system you are using and which version of Gramps you installed.
