Persistant Gramps Updates For Addons

David L McMurray
Persistant Gramps Updates For Addons

For a while now Gramps has been offering the update Set Tag 0.1.4. Now, a second one is Certificate Gramplet (1.0.20).

Every time I apply updates, these two are being offered. Is there some way I can check to see why they are being offered over and over?

Windows 7-64bit

Gramps AIO64  3.4.5-1, done with a clean install

Thanks,

David

There is currently a bug in the updater that doesn't correctly
indicate that there is really nothing installed. You can ignore these,
but there is probably just a version number mismatch, and it thinks
there is something to update, but there isn't.

Does, by the way, anyone else have the problem that, when calling Edit->Preferences->General->Check now the addons dialog opens below the settings dialog which has display priority (modal) and can't be moved or selected while the addons dialog is opened?
I have to move the settings dialog to a place where it is not covering most of the screen before pressing the "check now" button to see a larger part of the addons dialog popping up under the settings dialog.
This is on WinXP SP3 with Gramps 3.4.5-1 AIO 32 bit.

If anyone else sees this behavior I can open a bug ticket. Otherwise it might be a problem of my Windows installation?

Kind regards,
Heinz

Re: Persistant Gramps Updates For Addons

David L McMurray
Heinz,

Always have had that problem. Windows XP & 7, nearly two years of Gramps on
those two systems. Always try to move the Preferences box to the left before
clicking the Check Now box, then I can usually move the Updates window
around enough to check the ones I want to load.

Also have problems whenever I open more than one family and more than one
person, then start opening events. At times it's difficult to select one of
the open windows and keep it selected. Often the active window is covered by
an inactive window. I have to click an inactive window, then I can click
what was earlier an active window and it will then come to the front. Now
that I'm working with two monitors, going to my web browser on the other
monitor then coming back to Gramps will provoke these problems. I try to
keep it simple, but before I know it, the person I'm working on now involves
the spouse, then a child with spouse, then a grandchild.

Thanks for taking the lead on this,
David

There is a View menu with tree of the order of windows.

Like http://www.gramps-project.org/bugs/view.php?id=6548 ?

If so, my guess goes to one lib version (gtk, pygtk or python-gobject) used under Windows bundle(s)?

This tool has bugs in it, and has been marked as "Unstable".  I have removed it from the listing.

Now, a second one is Certificate Gramplet (1.0.20).

This was my fault.  It appears that generating a listing includes addons that are not even committed to the repository.

The Certificate addons are an extension to the Census addons, which provide support for birth marriage and death certificates, as well as baptism and burial records.  They are currently being tested, and I didn't intend to make them public yet.

I have also removed these from the listing.

Nick.

Yes, the error description of bug 6548 matches the observed behavior.
So the bug is already in the tracker.
