Republican calendar

Blaise Marion
I imported my GEDCOM and Gramps does not like the Republican Calendar (I can't blame it. :) ).

I did see this in the French Documentation:

(I did not see any indication of the Republican calendar in the EN version)

The problem is that it still shows up as bold with the red icon indicating there is a problem. Is this normal? What am I missing? Is there a specific format it will take?
ex:
4 Germinal VIII
4 GERM VIII
4 GERM an VIII
4 Germinal an VIII

I also tried the date selector and had the same results.
I also added the " (republicain) " after and had the same results.

Any input would be appreciated.

Blaise

Bon, voici le format à utiliser:

<année>-<mois>-<jour> (Révolutionnaire)

soit pour ton exemple:

8-07-04 (Révolutionnaire)

Re: Republican calendar

Blaise Marion
Correction for future reference:
4 Germinal an VIII becomes 8-07-04 (Républicain)

Note:
- It seems Gramps needs the accent on the e to recognize the proper calendar (bug ?) (my version GrampsAIO64-4.2.3-1)

Month equivalences:
1 - Vendémiaire
2 - Brumaire
3 - Frimaire
4 - Nivôse
5 - Pluviôse
6 - Ventôse
7 - Germinal
8 - Floréal
9 - Prairial
10 - Messidor
11 - Thermidor
12 - Fructidor

Any guidance on editing the wiki?

Do you mean "germinale" like a "cellule germinale" ???

No typo on the french translation:

#: ../gramps/gen/datehandler/_datestrings.py:173
msgid "French month lexeme|Germinal"
msgstr ""

Yes, once revolutionary/republican calendar is used, gramps
displays something like iso date file format...

Currently, it follows the english way:

def _display_french(self, date_val, **kwargs):
     return self._display_calendar(date_val, self.french, **kwargs)

Need to write a custom formating on 'gramps/gen/datehandler/_date_fr.py' file,
which also needs to follows locale-specific "format" definitions.

It should not be too complicated but the last time I looked at this,
there was a mistake (I do not remember well if it was on slash year or months
handling).

We could also try to force one file format but iso date format can be useful when
we are looking at historical sources and do not know very well the order of months
into the french calendar!

 looked
  at this,
there was a mistake (I do not remember well if it was on
  slash year or months
  handling).

We could also try to force one file format but iso date
  format can be useful when
we are looking at historical sources and do not know very
  well the order of months
  into the french calendar!

   Correction for future reference:
4 Germinal an VIII becomes 8-07-04 (Républicain)
   Note:- It seems Gramps
needs the accent on the e to recognize the proper
 calendar
   (bug ?) (my version GrampsAIO64-4.2.3-1)
   Month equivalences:1
   - Vendémiaire2 - Brumaire3 -
   Frimaire4 - Nivôse5 -
   Pluviôse6 - Ventôse7 -
   Germinal8 - Floréal9 -
   Prairial10 - Messidor11 -
   Thermidor12 - Fructidor
   Any guidance on editing the

         I imported my GEDCOM and
  Gramps does

  (I can't blame it. :) ).

I did see this in the
  French
   Documentation:
           https://gramps-project.org/wik

           (I did not see any
  indication of the Republican
   calendar in
             the EN
  version)

           The problem is that
it still shows up as bold
   with the red
             icon
indicating there is a problem. Is this
   normal? What am I
             missing? Is
there a specific format it will
   take?
           ex:
           4 Germinal VIII
           4 GERM VIII
           4 GERM an VIII
           4 Germinal an VIII

           I also tried the date
  selector and had the same
   results.
           I also added the "
  (republicain) "
   after and had the same
             results.

           Any input would be
  appreciated.
