gtk versus theme icon

bm-7
Hi,

can somebody on a GNOME GRAMPS setup do the following:

locate gtk-home

and reply with the output?

Thanks.

Why?: on KDE the home icon is the standard gtk icon
(http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/gtk/gtk-Stock-Items.html#GTK-STOCK-HOME:CAPS)
which does not fit nor with Tango theme of GRAMPS, nor with standard installed
KDE theme.  I would like to know where this problem comes from.

Benny

Some gramps-users don't have standard gtk home icon on KDE !!!
http://gramps-project.org/gramps-manual/2.2/sk/figures/mainwin.png
http://gramps-project.org/gramps-manual/2.2/fr/figures/family.png
I use tango icon for KDE ...
Maybe sometimes themes don't have the right icon size (GNOME+KDE) and
use standard GTK for gtk program ?
But why just home icon ???

Also, I cannot launch GNOME since 4 months (Xorg/Wm freeze) same issue
with last xfce :(

Re: gtk versus theme icon

bm-7
Hi,

After a long search, I have located the KDE wrong icons to an error in
gtk-qt-engine.
This stores a file .gtk_qt_engine_rc in your home directory that does
not refer
gtk-home, gtk-add, gtk-remove to a valid icon, and hence default GTK icons are
used.  (italics, forward, ... are correct however on my box)

I'll file a bug with the gtk-qt engine, and a small patch.

Note that people with this problem can change this file with a text editor,
however on change of font/icon style in KDE it will be regenerated. I'll add
this to the list of KDE problems with GRAMPS.

I have two GNOME theme manager !!!
Old GNOME1 (1.4.0.5) and GNOME2 ...

> Can you tell me what themes are installed in Gnome

Too many custom themes http://www.gnome-look.org/ + GTK/xfce themes

GNOME1 theme used :
Pixmap theme

GNOME2 theme used :
Custom theme :
Control:MurrinaCandy (not active with GTK apps)
Icon:Tango

> and if you use GTK-QT engine in the system settings of KDE?

I don't use GTK-QT engine ...
Too many issues, see bug reports on tracker :
http://bugs.gramps-project.org/view.php?id=786
http://bugs.gramps-project.org/view.php?id=904

KDE theme used :
Custom theme :
Color:Keramik émeraude
Window:Plastik
Icon:Tango
Style:B3/KDE or Baghira or Comix

GTK theme used :
Chlorohyll (active with GTK apps !!!)

If I change KDE icons set on KDE configuration center, than GRAMPS will
keep tango icons :) but related to my GNOME2 custom theme ... :(

If you copy/paste GNOME tango icons into your KDE icon dir, you will
have the same icons for KDE/GNOME with less mistakes than qt-gtk engine ;)
